Our Story

Built so Lahore would not have to travel

International Eye Hospital began with a straightforward conviction: a city the size of Lahore should not have to send its patients abroad for routine sight-saving surgery. The hospital was founded as a single-speciality eye institution — not a general hospital with an eye department bolted on — so that every theatre, every diagnostic room and every member of staff exists for one purpose: protecting and restoring vision.

That focus shaped the hospital's biggest decision. Rather than buying entry-level equipment and referring complex cases onward, IEH invested directly in the surgical platforms used by leading eye centres in Germany, Switzerland and the United States — the ZEISS VISUMAX 800 for flapless SMILE Pro, the ZEISS OPMI Lumera T for cataract and corneal work, and a complete diagnostic suite including Pentacam and optical biometry. The result is that a patient in Gulberg is examined and operated on with the same technology they would meet in London or Dubai, at a fraction of the cost and without a flight.

Today the hospital serves the Gulberg neighbourhood it grew up in — walk-in OPD patients, families, school children needing their first spectacles — alongside patients who travel in from Faisalabad, Multan, Sargodha, Sialkot and across Punjab for laser vision correction, retinal surgery and premium lens implants. Overseas Pakistanis plan their surgery around visits home. IEH coordinates all of it from one address in Gulberg, Lahore.

The Building

Red brick, brass, and one clear route through

The hospital occupies a heritage red-brick building on a quiet Gulberg street — arched windows, deep brick reveals and a brass plate at the entrance that has been polished by hand since the day it was fitted. Keeping the original facade was deliberate: patients find the address easily, and the building feels like a permanent part of the neighbourhood rather than a rented floor in a plaza.

Inside, the experience is arranged in one direction. Reception and the waiting lounge sit immediately past the portico, with the OPD consultation suites on the same level so elderly patients are not moved between floors. Diagnostics — Pentacam, biometry, OCT and visual fields — sit beside the consulting rooms, so a full work-up is completed in a single visit.

The Executive Operation Theatres and the laser suite occupy the sheltered rear of the building, away from street noise, with a dedicated recovery area where patients rest and receive their post-operative drops and instructions before a family member walks them out. Optica, the in-house optical store, is on the way to the exit for anyone leaving with a new prescription.

Our Philosophy

Good eye surgery is mostly good decision-making. The technology decides how precisely a plan can be executed, but the plan itself comes from an unhurried examination, honest measurements and a consultant willing to say that a procedure is not suitable. We would rather turn a patient away from laser correction than deliver a result they will regret.

So we measure before we promise. Every candidate is scanned, every risk is explained in plain Urdu or English, and every price is quoted before consent is signed. Patients leave knowing what was done to their eye, what to expect in the next week, and exactly who to call if something feels wrong.
